At Amazing Beginnings Montessori School, as we have started enjoying the fall season of harvest, our children are busy making crafts and doing Halloween themed worksheets. By making learning fun for them, we find that it helps the children retain knowledge. In our Pre-K classroom, the children work on math problem worksheets. For example, if you have three monsters and take away one, how many do you have left? Why two of course! The children are learning by doing the counting themselves while the teachers are there to help guide them with their learning. Making it fun keeps them focused and interested.

Doing crafts keeps the children engaged at all levels. Our preschoolers made some beautiful stain-glass like fall leaves that are displayed in their classroom window, showing their harvest spirit!

Our toddlers love doing watercolor painting and they created ghosts and pumpkins using their hands in keeping with the Halloween theme. Our younger toddlers have turned pipe cleaners and cheerios into corncobs while learning the letter C. They proudly display their artwork for all to see.

Even our littlest infants get in on the harvest theme with fun crafts made with footprints. They are learning to “be leaf” in themselves.
